Feast of Saint Lawrence
Almighty and eternal God,
In Your unfailing love, You never cease to
Provide faithful ministers for
your people.
We pray for those who are discerning the call
To serve the Church as deacons.
Under the guidance and intercession of
Saint
Lawrence, deacon and martyr,
Inspire in them a generous response.
Open their hearts to know Your holy will,
Especially if You
desire them to serve others
In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ.
In doing so, may they truly herald your Gospel,
Not only in word but
especially in deed.
May their actions make Your love known,
Particularly to those among us who are poor,
Lost and forgotten, sick and
suffering,
And most in need.
Bless with courage and perseverance those
Who already serve you as deacons.
Grant that many people
will be inspired by
Their example and their faith.
We ask all this through Christ our Lord.

Prayer to St. Lawrence
O generous Patron of the Church’s poor,
St. Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr
Pray to the One God, Father,
Son and Holy Spirit
That all the poor of the Church in need
In every corner of the world
May feel the effect of the love
Of their brothers
and sisters
Who seek to help them.
Deliver the Church
From the greed and envy of the powerful
And protect her rights and property
So
that what may serve the needy in freedom,
Giving them good things for soul and body.
May we come someday
With all those whom we
helped on earth
To the bright mansions of heaven
Where we will enjoy the riches of God’s house
And the company of the Savior
Who lives and reigns forever and ever.
